🥤✨ Coca-Cola Porcelain Syrup Urn, c.1896 ✨🥤

Step back to the very beginnings of Coca-Cola at the soda fountain!

Starting in 1896, The Coca-Cola Company offered these elaborately detailed porcelain syrup urns to soda fountain operators. At first, only shops selling 100 gallons or more of Coca-Cola syrup per year could qualify to receive one. By 1899, the requirement was lowered to 35 gallons — making them more widely seen across America.

Although the urns were technically “on loan” from the company, history tells a different story: most soda fountains kept them or gave them away once they were no longer in use. That’s why only a handful survive today, making them a prized piece for collectors and museums alike.

🌟 On display now at The Soda Museum — a true relic of Coca-Cola’s earliest days in American soda fountains.

📍 Visit us in St. Charles and see this rare urn up close!

🚬✨ Coca-Cola Gum Vending Machine, c.1903–1905 ✨🚬

On display at The Soda Museum is one of the rarest early Coca-Cola vending pieces ever made — the cigar-style gum machine.

🔴 Shaped like a cigar, the cylindrical gum was sold for 5 cents. This machine once dispensed Coca-Cola gum in soda fountains and shops over 120 years ago. Customers would drop in a nickel and receive a cylinder of chewing gum — while the Coca-Cola brand stayed front and center in daily life.

🌟 Why it matters:

Not many were made, and those that were, were discarded after only a couple years in service, making survivors like this nearly impossible to find today.

Considered one of the “holy grails” in the Coca-Cola collecting world.

This rare piece shows how Coca-Cola built its name not just through the drink, but through early brand marketing and everyday novelties.

✨ Rare Find at The Soda Museum ✨

On display is a Coca-Cola “The Ideal Brain Tonic" "Specific for Headache" brass plate dating back to c.1896 — made only 10 years after Coca-Cola was invented.

This embossed brass plate actually pre-dates the famous tin litho serving trays used by the company in the early 1900s. Its exact use is a mystery, but Allan Petretti, the Godfather of Coca-Cola collecting, believed it may have been used as a service plate or backbar piece, and his dating of the piece comes from the slogans used.

The debossed Coca-Cola logo in the center was originally filled with bright red enamel. Though over a century has passed, remnants of that red enamel can still be seen across the lettering today.

👉 A very rare piece of Coca-Cola history, right here in St. Charles!

📍 Visit us at The Soda Museum to see it in person.
