Tomorrow is Women’s Day Downtown, and we are celebrating as a partially women-owned business!
Penny Scroggs is an owner and Store Manager of The Story House Bookstore on Walnut Street. She grew up in Willard, MO, and graduated with a degree in Interior Design from The University of Missouri. She and her husband have been married for 22 years and have 2 children. After spending 18 years at home raising their sons, she put that degree to use and worked locally as an Interior Designer for Obelisk Home.
Now she is dedicated to providing the best experience for customers at the bookstore by creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere as well as executing events that promote community, support of the arts, and a love of stories.
She spends her free time in awe and wonder; marveling at the way light moves through a space, listening to the quiet sounds of nature, and letting herself linger with great art and thoughtful design. She reads nonfiction, makes art when she can, and unapologetically binge-watches her favorite shows. At heart, she’s drawn to whimsy and believes most things are better in color.
