Dug along the Jordan Creek in Spfld MO. This 1875 English Penny was made into some sort of ID tag. Charles C. Moss was in the Phelps Regiment, mainly Greene County Missouri men. He liked to sing in camp around the campfire. After the civil war Moss was a Tinsmith. Next he was elected as Sheriff of Spfld MO. I believe this 1875 English Penny was used as a ID tag for his saddle or horse. The way it was made to be strapped onto something. Moss also knew my GG Grandfather who was the Greene County Sheriff. Moss beat Wild Bill Hickok in the 1865 City of Spfld MO Election. Wild Bill was hired as a bounty hunter afterwards by Moss and the city. He was paid $5 per day.
