Dead Man’s Hand … It’s often seen as an unlucky or ominous hand in poker folklore, despite being a decent two-pair hand in reality. Last night, this was my card guard….i was indeed dealt A8 one time, but did not proceed to acquire AA88, the DMH. I’ll note, I did win the 13 player tournament 😎

After vending at Sturgis in 2023, i traveled through Deadwood, AZ and visited the spot where one of my favorites persons in history, Wild Bill Hickok, played poker. ♠️ Due to mere lore alone, the “Dead Man’s Hand” has always been my all time favorite poker hand… this is why ive chosen it to be in my Catalog of Coins and i hope you will see the love & care that i put into each creation and follow me on this journey, as i do…

♦️ Dead Man’s Hand; The poker term “dead man’s hand” refers to a two-pair hand consisting of two black aces (the ace of spades and ace of clubs) and two black eights (the eight of spades and eight of clubs), with the fifth card typically unknown or irrelevant to the nickname. It earned this ominous name from the legend that legendary Old West figure Wild Bill Hickok was holding exactly this combination (or at least the aces and eights portion) in a five-card stud game in Deadwood, South Dakota, on August 2, 1876, when he was shot in the back of the head and killed by Jack McCall—forever linking the hand to death and bad luck in poker folklore, even though it’s a reasonably strong but not unbeatable holding in modern games.
