My favorite days at Overlap are the days we are simply a space.
Sure that doesn’t make a ton of sense as a retail store owner, but aside from making enough money to keep the keys to the building and the lights on, the WHY has nothing to do with money.
It’s the handshakes where strangers become neighbors.
It’s that there are hugs available for you, but only shared when you consent to it.
It’s that people feel comfortable enough here to share, to cry, to tell their story, and to TMI just a little with another soul.
It’s the “does anyone else need a forehead kiss before I go?” From one regular to all the new comers.
It’s the, “Can I ask a weird question?”
It’s watching a group gather around the opened oracle decks and tell each other about their current situations, and hopes for the future.
It’s the clothing swap people who tell me that their clothes got them safe, got them a job or promotion, or make them feel more like themselves.
