Father's Day weekend in Crawford County:
Wake up at 6:30 AM Saturday. Drive to the Allegheny College fields. Watch 30 hot air balloons float in from across the valley while the fog floats off the grass. Free. No tickets needed. Just show up with coffee and a lawn chair.

After that, take the family to Pymatuning (PA's largest state park) and let the kids throw bread at the Linesville Spillway while Dad pretends he isn't as fascinated as they are.

Afternoon: rent a kayak on French Creek or cast a line at Woodcock Lake. Evening: cold beer and a fire-roasted pizza at TimberCreek, or delicious burgers at Dominico in Meadville.

Sunday morning, do it again. Or sleep in. He's earned it.
