Remembering Ed's Bargain Shop

Remembering Ed's Bargain Shop I permanently closed the store in 2019 Welcome to our store page! My parents started buying & selling when I was a kid.

Going to yard sales and auctions for most of my life. They originally had a store in Raleigh on Brookside Drive (B&E Bargain Shop) back in the late 1970's-early 1980's. They closed for many years and just continued to go to yard sales and sell at (& worked at) various auction houses. In 1996 I started Cindy's Bargain Corner in an unused storefront in the front of mine & my husband's tire business

in Wilson, NC. When I first started the business, my dad was taking care of my grandmother, who was bedridden. He would come help me out when he could get someone to sit with Grandma. After a while, we found a lady who would sit with Grandma, so daddy could work with me more and attend auctions with me. We eventually outgrew the storefront and rented an 8,000 square foot building, where we were at for about a year. We then lucked up on a 33,000 square foot warehouse where we rented out spaces to approximately 15 full time vendors and various part time vendors. We were in that location for about 3 years when one day the realtor came in and told Daddy that the owner wanted to sell the building and we had 30 days to move out. We then moved to an old schoolhouse on Hwy 97 and was there for about a year when the county said we couldn't have a business there because of the zoning. By this time my sixth child had been born and I felt like I could no longer devote so much time to the business. I was going to close down, but since Daddy was getting ready to turn 70, he asked me if he could take over the business, so we changed the name to Ed's Bargain Shop and he moved to his current location in Spring Hope. I am still a partner with him and enjoy helping him when I can. He will be 80 years old in September of this year and loves to go in everyday (except Saturday, that's yard sale day!) He loves to talk to everyone who comes in to shop, so stop by and talk to "Mr Ed"

I closed the store permanently in April 2019. I have left the page up for our awesome customers to post memories or pictures of daddy, the store or a great item that you bought from us.

It’s been a year since I closed the store. I miss seeing my great customers.

So it's been a little over 3 months since I closed the store and opened a garage with my husband, son and son in law. The garage is doing well. I do miss my regular customers/friends, but, I'm happy with my decision to close. I have a 16 foot box truck FULL of merchandise that I need to sell so if anyone is interested please contact me. There is very little furniture and what furniture I do have is tables and a few bookshelves. Most of the glassware, décor stuff is boxed up. Great opportunity for a flea market vendor or store owner. I also have quite a bit of stuff at my house, but I need to sort through that first. There's also some furniture in that stuff.

Well....it’s been a week since I shut the store down. I’ve missed my loyal customers, but, I know now that I definitely made the right decision. The garage that my husband, daughter, son in law and myself opened this week had a phenomenal first week and promises to get even better.
I wrote last week about finding a penny while packing up and how I felt it was a sign from daddy. Well, while unpacking and setting up my office at the garage, I found another penny, which I feel like was daddy’s way of saying he approved.
If any of you are ever in Louisburg, please stop by to see me.

With all the rain, we have been unable to go empty out the building. We are planning to go tomorrow morning around 10:00 am to start loading. I have a lot of books left that if someone wants to come get them, you can HAVE them! I will also give you great deals on any leftover furniture, dvds and cds 💿 We hope to only be at the store for 2-3 hours.
