I have been CRANKIN out pots, magnets, earrings, commissions, 2D paintings and RAFFLE ITEMS all week!

BUT CANT WAIT TO SHARE IT ALL WITH YOU!

This has been such a fun learning experience researching really EVERY aspect of art products to see if/where/how/when animal products are used!!

I learned that most glazes that give off a metallic like shade often contain “bone ash” which strands from cow bones that are heated into a fine ash like substance.

To say the sweat started dripping off my forehead was an understatement 🫪

I have gone through each and every glaze I own and have used in past studios and did some digging!!! NONE!!! 😮‍💨🤩 (mind you, that was just the high fire glazes)

Next I went through underglaze, wax, oil pastels (frequently use animal fats), adhesives, and even POSCAS! - which I had to dig deep for but found out that they are infact VEGAN!!!


Did you know animals were used in so many products? I didn’t!!
This was one of my main interests for signing up for this festival because I LOVE TO LEARN!! Thank you so much Phoenixville VegFest !!!!

Working with ceramics forces you to think 2 months ✍🏻ahead with each piece you start! With drying times, kiln firings, unexpected glaze explosions…. you might not be seeing your finished piece until the next season!

Last week was the Art Room’s FIRST week with THREE CLASSES! I can’t believe it! 🫪

I’m really doing this thing!!

Wednesday’s class was a solo class and I could see an improvement in the pieces as I find my teaching groove.

Friday’s class told me that they picked The Art Room’s paint a pot over a new spot locally because they want to support a TRUE artist 🥹🫶🏼 (that warmed my heart)

SATURDAY’s class was a build a pipe and, boy do I love having creatives come in here, I mean LOOK AT WHAT THEY MADE!!! Saturday was also special because it was Layla’s 🐾🦴first class!!!

I usually don’t have her in the studio for classes but her bestest friend in the world was coming in so she just HAD to be apart of the fun! And she did GREAT!

First time in a while I feel proud of what I have accomplished! In only 6 months I’ve been able to get this blank room into MY ART STUDIO. I mean, I have a kiln?? 3 classes in one week?

It’s only up from here ✨
