You may have heard about ICE detaining a local father, Alberto Lovo Rojas, about a month ago (we’ll link to the spokesman article in our stories). His wife and three children remain in their home but are facing extreme financial hardship as he was the primary provider and the costs of fighting his detention are mounting. This weekend (Friday and Saturday) Kizuri will be donating 10% of all sales to support his family. If you’ve been meaning to stop in, we encourage you to do so Friday or Saturday to help support Alberto’s family!

It feels pretty trivial to post here when the world is on fire and so many of our friends and neighbors have been thrown into uncertainty and peril. (And it feels even worse to do so on a platform that is certainly not looking out for them or us.)
But one thing helping me get through these days is to focus on the small things that bring us joy and connection. I am so grateful for the community that we have at Kizuri and for the interactions we have in the store every day.
I’m also grateful that the store connects us to diverse makers and communities around the world. In this photo alone there are items from 22 different countries, made by dozens of cooperatives and hundreds of talented artisans.
We’re here to connect on a micro level: to chat and share your day with you (or to let you shop in peace 😉). And we hope to provide connection on a macro level too – to help you provide economic opportunity and be in community with people across the globe.
All of this is to say: we hope you’re finding joy, connection, and community where you can. And if one of those places is Kizuri, we’d love to see you ❤️

Small, everyday actions, like shopping local and supporting the women in India and Guatemala who make these aprons, can still go a long way and make a big difference in people’s lives.
