Matt’s Guitar Shop is beyond proud to welcome Albert King’s 1967 Gibson Flying V. 🎸🔥
This discovery came after weeks of work — studying period photographs, comparing every detail, analyzing the guitar’s play wear and condition, and most importantly, finding a distinctive wood-grain pattern that matches the guitar seen in Albert King’s hands.
This very Flying V was played on stage multiple times by Albert King, one of the absolute founding fathers of electric blues and one of the most influential guitarists to ever pick up the instrument.
The combination of the wood-grain match, distinctive wear patterns and photographic evidence made this discovery truly incredible.
An original 1967 Gibson Flying V is already an exceptionally rare guitar.
An original ’67 Flying V played by Albert King is something else entirely.
After all the research and work that went into identifying this guitar, we are incredibly honored to have such an important piece of blues and guitar history at Matt’s Guitar Shop.
