The 5th KitchenLEDs™ Goal is rugged components where no electrician is required. Many cabinet LEDs are flimsy plastic strips that attach with glue. We have sturdy aluminum frames that mount securely with screws (provided by us).

The 4th KitchenLEDs™ Goal is energy efficiency and long life. LED lighting is inherently energy efficient. We ran our low voltage life test for 16 years of 24 x 7 operation (140,256 continuous hours). During this test not one of the 594 individual LEDs failed. Our design provides both energy efficiency and long life.

The 3rd KitchenLEDs™ Goal is low voltage wiring. Wiring for a doorbell or a thermostat is inherently safe. I designed KitchenLEDs to use the same type of low voltage wiring. KitchenLEDs™ are simpler, easier and cheaper to install because there is no need for electricians, building permits or inspections.

The 2nd KitchenLEDs™ Goal is unified control of all cabinet lights for on, off and dim. We meet this goal by using daisy chain wiring of multiple LED modules from one power supply and building in compatibility with Home Automation lamp dimmer devices.

The 1st KitchenLEDs™ goal is continuous even lighting under every cabinet. This picture shows how the KitchenLEDs™ lighting modules, which are available in 19 sizes from 4 to 40 inches long, can be installed under every cabinet, regardless of size, to provide continuous even lighting.

I set some goals for my new KitchenLEDs™ system: 1) Continuous and even lighting under every cabinet, 2) Control of on, off and dim in unison for all cabinet lights, 3) Low voltage wiring (no conduit or electrician required), 4) Energy efficient, long life, LED technology, 5) Rugged, pre-wired components for easy Do-It-Yourself installation (no electrician required), 6) A plug in power supply (no electrician required), and 7) compatibility with all major home automation systems for voice control etc.

In the beginning I used a single row of LEDs mounted in an aluminum channel powered at 12 volts DC. There was a switching DC power supply with a manual dimmer.

We (see 2 previous posts) installed two rows of LEDs under every cabinet. All of the LEDs were controlled from a single light switch. There were two dimmers. One for the front row and one for the back. MJ had installed the most amazing glass tiles for her backsplash. At night it was stunning to turn off the room lights and dim the back row of LEDs to highlight the glass tile.

A couple stopped at my booth (see previous post) and the woman (I will call her MJ) said she needed some replacements for broken LED lights in her kitchen. I created something new which became KitchenLEDs.

KitchenLEDs began in 2015. I had a booth at a county fair. I was offering a conversion kit that converted a fluorescent light fixture to use LEDs.
