Hello, this is Eve ~ I really appreciate all of the support we’ve received from the community throughout the ten years we were in business as Alaska Car Shop. Elizabeth and myself were able to bring our commitment to excellence and customer service for automotive accessories and installations to the Kenai Peninsula though the communities continued support for us at Alaska Car Shop.
When I was a child I sustained life altering injuries through my arm, spine, and hips. I never healed properly. The physical condition and limitations with my shoulders continued to increase over the years while we were open.
This resulted in the decision to hire and train a replacement crew to effectively replace me in the installation bay. This allowed me to better focus on the business itself, primarily the growth and marketing for Alaska Car Shop.
Our bay manager decided to part ways with us this past spring with very short notice leaving us in an unfortunate position that ultimately required closing the “12 volt” side of the business.
Two years prior to this we picked up Traxxas and since then had expanded the Retail space into more of a Hobby Shop. Using this as an opportunity to expand this side of the business we set out to build an indoor/outdoor “RC Park” in that same space.
Unfortunately we were not able to make swift enough progress before the overhead of the space we were leasing became unsustainable. The result was the subsequent closure of our doors at Alaska Car Shop.
I managed to separate both shoulders badly while moving out of that space due to sheer exhaustion and determination to keep going. I’m only just now regaining my strength enough so I can start working on setting up a new shop. It has been slow getting things going as a result of everything.
Good News! We’ve been seeing continuous improvement with my strength and stamina working with the amazing Physical Therapy team at the Hospital’s Soldotna location. I am very grateful for the work they have performed with me.
As well as ~
I’ve been working with Willow King over at The Goods! Helping to build a locally sustainable grocery store, a dream that she has been working on for years, and do what I can to help! The Goods is becoming something that can help save our community from the stranglehold that the commercial industry’s Big Box stores have on our local food supply.
We have started stocking some of our hobby projects and entry RC cars with the consignment products from other local vendors available there at The Goods. This has helped to round out the type of products available there and provide a much more versatile shopping environment while keeping with the focus of local community and sustainability.
The plan going forward is to create a solution for parts support and offer an expanded selection for the different RC Cars and brands that we bring into The Goods.
We have decided to close down the Alaska Car Shop brand/name entirely now and will continue forward as “Eve’s RC Shop” ~ which I’ve already changed over on this page.
I look forward to once again being able to bring and share Joy with the community through the passion I have for building RC car’s, Tracks and obstacle courses!
The gears are noticeably turning again now…
