The Formation and Types of Crystals
Crystals are formed over millions, even tens of millions, of years deep within the Earth under high heat and pressure. Their transparency and color are determined by the minerals they are composed of and their crystal structure. Some of the most popular types of crystals include:
Quartz Crystals: One of the most common types, typically clear and colorless, though it can also exhibit slight hues. Quartz is widely used in the creation of jewelry and decorative items.
Amethyst: A purple variety of quartz that is prized for its rich color. Amethyst is believed to promote tranquility and emotional balance, making it a favorite for meditation and relaxation.
Rose Quartz: Known for its soft pink color, rose quartz is often associated with love, compassion, and healing. It is a symbol of nurturing energy and is used to attract love and promote harmony in relationships.
Citrine: This yellow or golden variety of quartz is considered a stone of abundance and success. Citrine is said to enhance self-confidence, creativity, and attract wealth.
Obsidian: A dark volcanic glass, typically black or deep brown, obsidian is thought to have protective properties. It is commonly used as a shield against negative energy and to strengthen one's mental defense.
