Figments and Fripperies

Figments and Fripperies Back in 2015, I set up at my 1st event-on a whim- and I was hooked. Over a decade in and my business has grown and changed. Each piece is handmade and unique.

I make hand stamped, die struck and forged metal jewelry, bookmarks, journals and more. Geeky, snarky, spooky and odd- that’s me. Figments and Fripperies is my new creative outlet. I will be starting out by showing my handmade jewelry and hopefully will branch out with some other surprises soon. Sometimes I can make another similar one and some have been made with inclusions that I can't replace.

This is the very beginning of a new venture for me- I welcome comments and suggestions. Just keep it clean and please be nice. Welcome!

You may or may not have seen my post this morning about Nerdy Noel Midsummer Market this Sunday and the pieces on my bench that I was working on finishing. In case you didn’t, I had mentioned that I was working on this Medusa piece when I lost my grip while using my micromotor and she flew out of my hand. I spent a good 10 minutes looking for her (yes, my “studio” is rather ahem, full.) Anyway, I decided she had just traipsed off to another dimension and hoped she would come back by the weekend.
Well.
Before I left to go do some of my other non jewelry work today, I had taken my pewter moon and sun piece out of the tumbler which is about 5 feet away and behind me. Last thing I did before I left. Had Medusa been hanging out there I would have seen her. I got home this afternoon and made another cursory look before getting back to the other pieces. No luck. I dropped the pewter back in the drum and took it to the tumbler to start it again and there Miss Traveling Medusa was. At least 5 feet away almost straight back from where I let go of her. I really hope she had a nice trip, wherever it was she was roaming around. 😳🤪🫨

Just a few days away from Nerdy Noel Midsummer Market this Sunday at Stovehouse in Huntsville from 11-5. This is a fantastic location and an absolutely awesome show. I am frantically finishing things like these 3 that are still on my bench getting worked on. There is also a Medusa etched stone that flew out of my hands while I was working on her and apparently crossed into another dimension. Hoping she comes back in time. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Just a quick reminder that this Saturday, June 27th, is the Shadow Market in Manchester. This is the first year for this show but I have a feeling it’s going to be a fantastic one. Lots of vendors with wares on the darker side, food trucks, and me! LOL. It looks like it’s going to be a rainy day so come spend it inside at the show. 🖤

It has been a very busy and very productive week. This is just a small portion of what I have worked on getting ready for Shadow Market next Saturday in Manchester (about 60 stamped necklaces, 30 pairs of earrings, another 10-15 pewter pieces, 10-15 copper pieces, and 30 bookmarks, plus a few bracelets 😳🤪) I am going to get as much as possible finished by Saturday but I’m sure there will be a few things that won’t be ready until the next show. It’s busy season so there are plenty of events to get stocked up for in the coming weeks/months. Now back to work!!

Hey everyone. Game of Shrooms is over for another year. It was fun. I had 3 claimed pieces and 2 that I picked up this morning that had blown over in the wind and were not found. I haven’t decided yet if I will just add them to my stock or put them aside for next year. I’m sure this wasn’t too fun for anyone who isn’t local to me and I really should have thought about posting more info ahead of time. With that in mind, if you found this interesting please go check out the Game of Shrooms website. You can also follow the official Instagram account for it and get updates before next year’s event. There is a map with all the people who have signed up to make something to drop and it is world wide. You can find the artists IG (and occasionally fb or websites) by clicking on their pin in the map. There are probably people in your area doing it. Maybe you will even want to make something yourself next year. ❤️
