PART 1 - DOG SAFE ICE CREAMS ππ¨
What are dog safe ingredients?
1. Plain Greek yogurt (in moderation)
2. Non-dairy milk and yogurt as long as they're plain and unsweetened. Pay attention for additives, preservatives, sugars, or added salts and stay away from soy.
3. Peanut butter. Again make sure to avoid added preservatives, sugars, and salt, plus check for xylitol because it's toxic to your fur baby.
4. Fruits are one of the safest and healthiest treats for dogs. Ideally blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and watermelon. If you're not sure if a fruit is safe, Google "dog safe fruits".
5. Pumpkin puree. Plain is key, never use Pumpkin Pie mixture.
Treats should always be given in moderation, meaning no more than 10% of their daily calories should come from snacks and treats off any kind.
**If your dog is prone to weight gain, has pancreatitis, kidney, or heart problems, avoid peanut butter, yogurt, and coconut milk because they're high in fat content**
(I am not a licensed Veterinarian, though I did attend 6-years of Veterinary school in Virginia and New York. Please do your own research on dog foods and treats because you are their best advocate and consult your dog's Veterinarian if they have health issues before giving your dog treats of any kind. Some medications can have serious reactions with certain fruits and veggies or not allow their bodies to process vitamins and minerals properly.)
