Books4cause We run book drives on college campuses and in the local Chicago area We are expanding our focus to support additional causes and continue to help those in need.

Books4Cause runs book drives and book donation campaigns which help fund and support various initiatives locally, nationally, and around the world. Since we began arranging book donation drives in early 2006, we have raised thousands of dollars for our non-profit partners and salvaged tens of thousands of books that were headed for landfills. We reprocess donated books in several ways. Books with

resale value are sold in online marketplaces. For every book we sell we send three books to Africa. We also run individualized book drives to support additional local organizations and student groups. Most of our donated books are sent to Africa with the assistance of our non-profit partner Human Service Resources, Inc (HSRI). HSRI runs the Good Books for Africa program distributing books to children in classrooms and libraries in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa. To date HSRI has sent more than 300,000 books to Africa. Books that are not fit to be reprocessed are pulped and recycled.

📚✨ We’re so excited to be selling at the Printers Row Lit Fest for the very first time this weekend! Come say hi at Tent QQ on Polk St. and browse our hand picked selection of books for all ages and genres.

Most books are just $3–$5 because while we’re raising funds, our mission is to keep reading accessible for everyone. Every purchase helps us keep our Free Bookstore open and brings us closer to opening more free bookstores in other neighborhoods.

☀️ The weekend weather looks perfect to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this amazing festival. Along with us, you’ll discover countless other booksellers and literary organizations from across the city.

📚 We’re Hiring! 📚

Our Free Bookstore is looking for a part-time team member to join us Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

What you’ll do:
✨ Put out fresh stock for guests to browse
📦 Box and organize incoming donations
🤝 Welcome and assist visitors in finding books they’ll love

We’re looking for someone who loves books, loves people, and wants to be part of a project that’s making a positive impact in the world.

📝 Previous retail experience is a plus, but not required.

🍂 Fall is finally here and in full swing! 🍂

In preparation for the changing weather and current school year, will be hosting a Community Swap on Sunday, 10/6 from 12-4 pm.
The swap will feature clothing, books, records, school supplies and plants in collaboration with our incredible neighbors & !

All ages and sizes are welcome.

Donations are not required but if you’d like to donate, feel free to bring one bag of gently used clothing, books, records, and school supplies. We will also be swapping plants if you have propagations or seeds that you’d like to share.

Can’t wait to see you there!
