Syren General Store is part of The Shops at the Lodge located across from Crooked Lake Park on the corner of State Roads 35/70 and Park Street West in Siren, Wisconsin. The store uses the original spelling of the town from the 1890’s. Our first postmaster submitted the name Syren, which is Swedish for lilac, to the U.S. The government didn't recognize the spelling variation and changed it to Siren

, or so the story goes. The tornado that devastated Siren and the surrounding areas on the evening of June 18, 2001, took down the original building. The opportunity to rebuild allowed expanding the space to include more businesses. The new building opened just ten months later in April 2002. The Shops now house Syren General Store, The Chattering Squirrel Coffee Cafe, The Acorn Pantry featuring quality kitchenware & pantry supplies, Nouveau Salon & Day Spa, Making Memories & More – a scrapbooking store, and Avion Accounting. Nearby, we have Adventures Restaurant, Pub & Catering, The Lodge at Crooked Lake, Moose Mulligan's adventure-style mini-golf, Timbers Theatres, The Lodge Center Arena, and Subway.
