✨ A group of fireflies is called a sparkle.

📜 Note: In an earlier carousel post on our feed, I misidentified a group of fireflies as a twinkle when they are very much a sparkle. I’m sorry. I removed the image and updated it here. This collective noun is mostly poetic and not used scientifically. Another poetic name for a group of fireflies is “glow” but they are mostly known as a swarm.—Ashley

Before dawn on June 7, 2026, the sky will ignite with one of the year’s most underrated celestial spectacles the Arietids Meteor Shower.

Although most Arietid meteors streak across the sky during daylight hours, patient skywatchers can still catch rare “earthgrazers” slicing low across the eastern horizon in the final dark moments before sunrise.

Traveling at nearly 41 kilometers per second, these meteors are fragments left behind by an ancient comet or asteroid, burning brilliantly as Earth passes through their invisible stream. Under ideal dark skies, up to 30 meteors per hour may become visible to the naked eye.

Look east about an hour before sunrise, find a spot away from city lights, and let the quiet sky reveal one of astronomy’s hidden treasures.

🇺🇸✨ Aurora Alert Over the USA – September 13–14, 2025 ✨🇺🇸

For skywatchers across the United States, this weekend brings an incredible chance to witness the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky.

🌌 When to Watch

Best viewing: September 13–14, from late evening until around midnight.

Conditions: Clear skies and dark, open areas away from city lights.

🌍 Where to Look in the USA

Northern states have the highest chance: Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Maine.

If the solar storm intensifies, auroras could stretch further south, possibly visible in states like Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and even New York.

🌈 What Makes It Special

A rare opportunity to see auroras outside of Alaska!

Waves of green, purple, and pink lighting up the American sky.

Perfect for photographers, stargazers, and nature lovers.

📸 Tip: Use a long exposure camera setting to capture the auroras in full detail.

👉 The USA sky is about to glow — don’t miss nature’s most colorful light show! 🌌💫
