Happy Lunar Lammas! I've been harvesting some "first grains" and other goodies for arrangements and crafts for our booth at Silverton Grange #748 Makers Market on September 6. Yellow dock seeds aren't technically a grain but they are edible in the buckwheat family so can add fiber to a gluten free muffin or other baked good. Who can explain why these aren't a "grain"?

The long "dry spell" is coming to an end! Aaron and I have finally decided there is no alternative to putting in a holding tank for the well. That means all the fruit I've been harvesting and putting in the freezer can made into my quirky but delicious preserves, syrups and shrubs! Look for me at Silverton Grange #748 Makers Market on September 6th! I've also got a kitchen based class coming up starting in October.
