Our first boil this season was March 7th and we ended the season with 917 gallons of maple syrup with the last boil on April 1st. Short season but a hectic one. Good sap runs where on March 25th, a whooping 5200 gallons of sap was collected! Right out of the gate, it looked like dark robust was our season's future.

Fast forward to April 13th our last day of pulling taps and leaving the sugarbush to embrace spring! Peepers were in woods harmony and wildflowers were starting to show. It's been a good season and we are beyond grateful. Now looking forward to working with the peaches. Tim has started the pruning process and was scouting more places to plant 500 young Christmas trees. I see seedlings, shovel and dirt in my near future!

Our Maple Open House 2026 on March 21st was a sweet affair! Starting with our signature blueberry maple buttermilk pancakes with our fresh maple syrup. Our customers were all so sweet and excited to celebrate the day with us. The weather was on our side, a little overcast but sun did try to show midway. Thank you to all who came. We appreciate you guys! Thanks to my crew and family members for your help plus our son Hale for helping with the outdoor evaporator and helped boil that night.

Thanks to our small crew, tapping was completed by March 5th. This year we added another 100 taps on Todd’s line at the home farm. 1st boil to “sweeten the pan” was on March 7th.
Since then we have had consistent sap boil. However, the three days of nearly 60 degree weather and certain equipment failure (resulting a trip up north to Leader) has darken our syrup. It’s a tad disappointing for us so early in the season but Tim’s been working hard to get it back to light grade. Even so, we can’t complain with what nature gives us, it is delicious. Pure manna from heaven!
We are taking a day out of the sugarhouse to be at our maple open house. Look forward to seeing all of you Saturday for our annual pancake breakfast at Trade Winds!

We are celebrating the sugaring season! Our annual Maple Pancake breakfast is this Saturday. We will be flipping maple buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, cooking some sausages and home cooked home fries then top it off with maple syrup fresh from our sugarhouse!
Let us cook breakie for you and enjoy the start of maple weekend.
Ol’ time sap boil will start mid day and we will cook up some sap dogs!

Tim’s working on plowing all the snow but the ski trails are all groomed. He is now getting the ski rink back in shape. Do come and take advantage of all this snow. Use your farm pass or get a day pass to go skiing, sledding or skate. Have a great weekend!
Don’t forget Olympic Men’s hockey final is tomorrow! We had a blast watching the women’s hockey OT goal to win Gold! Don’t even get me started with Shifrin’s and Alysa Liu’s winning grit! 🏆

Trails have been groomed and set tracked. It’s 22 degrees with no wind and it’s sunny! Check out skiattradewindsfarm.com
