Solid two days of fishing across the Virginias. 34 Muskies caught. Smallest legal was 30” and the BIG FISH goes to Keith Krafft who nailed a 50” 🐖 early this morning. THE TOP 10 are:

1st 🥇- Derek Zamaitis & Park Mark. 36, 35, 30, 33, 35, & 38.5. - 170 points. (Comeback from 4th day 1 to winning !) 🏆 💰

2nd 🥈- Matthew Rehak & Mark Johnston. 38.25, 42, & 42. - 159 points 🏆 💰

3rd 🥉- Cody Dalton & Jacob Smith. 34.25, 39, & 45.5. - 145 points. (Comeback from 10th day 1) 🏆 💰

4th- Brent Perkey & Peter Roginiski - 44.75 & 37.75 - 110 points.

Overall a solid day. Fair weather, but the bite really slowed down once the clouds left. Only 4 of the 20 Muskies caught today came in the 1230pm - 6pm window.

BATTLE OF THE VIRGINIAS, take 8!! 🐋 🚨

As stated back in the fall, we had a lot of feedback from anglers to attempt to have this event about one month earlier to the normal march dates. I believe the thoughts of that were in hopes to catch the big girls feeding up for the spawn.

We had set the date for 02/08 & 02/09. With a backup plan of March 08&09 if the weather did not cooperate for February. The last few winters have been mild, and of course this one has been anything but mild! We have always said the good lord hates our events and sends terrible weather lol.

As of the last two weeks we didn’t see any possible way February was going to happen given the extreme deep freeze we have been in since about January 4. The forecast is now showing a huge warm streak in the upper 40s - 50F , even a couple days of 60F+ next week depending where you are located in the Virginias. With that said , we are going to try and have the event for the original slotted dates of February 8 & 9. Apologize for the late notice , but I didn’t see any chance the weather was making a turn like this. Let’s give it a go and if we get enough boats we will run it ! I have had a lot of guys reach out and say they want to fish and let’s try to make it a go. So that is the plan. If not, we will postpone to the March 8 & 9 dates. Thank you.

MARK THEM MUSKY CALENDARS for 2025- 8th Annual Battle of the Virginia’s & Musky in the Mountains - dates set:

We wanted to get these dates out asap. Lots of feedback on the battle to try doing it a month earlier. I believe this is probably to try and get some more big girls as they feed up for the spawn. So here is the plan:

Battle of the Virginias will be February 08 & 09. Now, if the 5-10 day forecast shows a snow storm or say daily temps with highs of only 30-35F , we will push it back. Nobody likes fighting frozen reels and line all day. However, the last two winters have been very mild compared to years past. If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be March 08 & 09, rain snow or shine. We are also going to make this event no livescope/ or any FFS. The goal is to get more boats and this seems to be the big driver of some teams not wanting to fish. With that said, if you are a livescope guy I hope you will still fish and show you can still smack those Muskies without it.

Musky in the Mountains 9 will be October 4 & 5. Since the “livescope scene” has really blown up it’s hurt the tournament scene in my opinion, at least in WV. Thats the feedback I am getting the last three years. With that said , the 2025 MITM will be no livescope/ forward facing sonars as well.

Mark them calendars for work off, babysitters, hall passes , etc. thank you all.
