The couple bought and converted a Standard Oil gasoline station, owned by Lena Faye’s parents, into one of Seymour’s very first drive-in restaurants. The store became well known for serving a wide variety of flavors including a special Chocolate Malt ice cream. The special recipe, still used today, has shaped a summertime tradition for many Seymour families. The store and tradition remain in busin

We are heartbroken to share the news with you on the passing of Rick Kovener, Co-Owner of Kovener’s Korner.

Our Dad had a successful career in electrical engineering and explored many hobbies from driving race cars and flying planes to woodworking and 3D printing, but Kovener’s Korner was always his biggest passion and point of pride. Whether he was dreaming up new products, exploring new opportunities, or fixing anything and everything that broke, the store was his ultimate playground. We feel so grateful to have had his guidance and support opening the Columbus location last year, as it was his lifelong dream to bring the business to more communities in southern Indiana.

As our family works through this challenging time, we take solace in knowing that the business our Dad loved so dearly will continue to serve the community he cared about. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and commitment to others will continue to guide us, and his presence will always be a part of Kovener’s Korner.

We hope that heaven has endless chocolate malt cones and no more plumbing leaks to fix.
