Haven’t got a web site up. I have been doing one on one pistol classes for a few months now.

The rate for a 2 hour range block of instruction is $40 for one person and $60 for two people.
I do classes on pistol, rifle and shotgun.

Call me at +19073605481 if you want to set something up.

Well yeasterday I took 2 pocket pistols to the range to work them out a bit.

The first gun was a Smith and Wesson 442 Under Cover 38 special revolver. This is a Lipseys exclusive. It came with great hi visibility sights. It’s a light weight revolver. It holds 5 rounds

The second gun I tested was a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2 380 pistol. It came with 2 magazines. One flush fitting mag held 10 the second mag was extended and it held 12 rounds.

The revolver shot very high so I filed down the rear sight until the point of impact was correct at 25 yards. I then shot both guns on a modified pistol qualification to work with a 5 shot weapon. The course is below.

5 shot revolver qualification

Stage 1. 25 yards.
From the holster draw and fire 5 rounds center mass in 16.5 seconds

Stage 2. Walk forward while firing 10 yards to 5 yards.
From low ready fire 5 rounds center mass in 5 seconds while advancing on the target.

Stage 3. Failure to stop at 7 yards. From the holster draw and fire 2 rounds center mass and one to the head in 5 seconds. Repeat once.

Stage 4. Reload drill. Prep the revolver with 2 life rounds and 3 empty cases. From the holster at 5 yards, draw and fire 2 rounds center mass, reload then fire 3 more rounds center mass. Repeat once.

Stage 5 . One handed firing 5 yards 2 strings.
1. Draw and fire weapon hand only 5 rounds in 6 seconds.
2. Starting at low ready with your support hand fire 5 rounds in 6 seconds.

Stage 6 failure to stop at 2 yards.
Draw and fire 2 rounds to center mass followed by one to the head in 3 seconds. Repeat once.

Stage 7. Retreating fire. Contact to 3 yards.
Push off from the target with your support hand, while moving back fire 5 rounds center mass in 3.5 seconds.

Passing score is 80% or 188 points. Max score is 235

Target is standard USPSA competion target.

Scoring

A zone 5 points

B/C zone stages all stages except 3 and 6 for head shots is 4 points.

B zone on stage 3 and 6 is 1 point. On head shots anything below the neck line is 0 assumed body armor.

D zone on all stages except for head shots is 1 point.

Overtime’s are -5 points
Extra shots are -5 points.

I scored a 205 with the 442 38 revolver which is 87%
It would have been better but I missed a head shot (shot too high) with the revolver and a 25 yard shot. Even with the sights corrected under stress of the timer I tended to aim higher with thr large hi visibility front sight. The reload stage was tough with the revolver, my times coming in just below 10 seconds allowed for the par time using a Safariland speed loader. The recoil with +p ammo was brisk. I did not use a pocket holster with the revolver due to its heavier and longer trigger making one unnecessary in my opinion.

I then shot the Bodyguard 2 380 and scored a 222 which is 94%.

The 380 had mild recoil. All stages were easy with this gun. I did the reload stage about 2 seconds faster than with the revolver. The Bodyguard 2
shot almost as easily as a service sized pistol. No malfunctions occurred with either gun. The bodyguard was used with a kydex pocket holster which I feel is required with a gun like this the trigger is short and light compared to the revolver which made it easier to shoot well.

The 38 Special is a more power round. The 135 grain ammo I used came in at 884 feet per second which equals 234 foot pounds of energy. The 99 grain Federal HST round for the 380 came in at 896 feet per second for 176 foot pounds. Both of these guns are my favorite pocket type pistols. Some people are opposed to smaller weaker pocket guns like these. But remember a 380 in your pocket is better than a 45 at home when you need it.

Well that’s my review.

Did my first range day event for some customers. Big thanks to Kent Berklend who helped me run the event. I took several fi****ms out and several steel targets. Everyone seemed to have had a good time. I got some good feedback on how to tweak the experience for the next groups.

Mounted a Holosun EPS 6moa red dot and some Ameriglo back up sights on a customers gun and zeroed it in at 15 yards. I am a big fan of Holosun pistol dots as being a good value for the money. The Alaska State Troopers and the Seward Polce Department also run this brand of pistol dots. 15 yards is a sweet spot to zero these dots.

I recently picked this handy carbine up. This is a Smith and Wesson Folding Pistol Caliber carbine in 10mm. It folds up into a very compact package and it’s relatively powerful. In my chronograph testing it was pushing bullets 200 fps faster than my G***k 10mm pistol. Totally reliable in my testing. My friend Joe helped me run it through some drills. This comes in at $600 but you will need to buy a red dot optic. Mine has a Primary Arms MD-25.
