Fire c***r season starts now. A jar takes about 4 weeks to steep, so a batch started this week will be ready just as the colder months settle in.

Make yours with Anna O'Neil this Tuesday in a hands-on workshop at Gather. You’ll learn her approach to fire c***r and herbal vinegars, then take home a jar of each, plus recipes for your next batch. All levels welcome.

Meet Marie Hoff. Shepherd, woolmonger, and the woman behind and .

Marie raises a small flock of heritage breed sheep here in Northern California and works with locally grown wool to create beautiful, useful products. She knows wool from the sheep all the way to the finished skein, which makes her a pretty wonderful person to learn spinning from.

She's joining us at Gather this Tuesday for Spinning Local Wool: Drop Spindle Basics, where you'll learn how to turn wool into yarn using one of the simplest spinning tools around.

A lot of tomatoes, and not a small amount of work.

Jennifer Emmons Koelemeijer has been busy putting away the summer harvest: fermented Sungold, destined for hot sauce, whole canned San Marzanos, and dehydrated cherry tomatoes that will become a very good bruschetta spread.

It takes time. There are jars everywhere. The kitchen gets hot. But winter Jen is going to be very happy with summer Jen!

A little restock for your mending basket! Otto Finn kantha patches and fabric bundles are back in the shop, ready for worn knees, elbows, little holes, favorite jeans, and anything else worth keeping around a bit longer.

When the patch is this cute it makes the whole thing better!
