What an incredible time this book launch is turning into. Sunday night, I was honored to speak at Sonoma Land Trust’s 50th anniversary party, and similarly, last week I was invited to deliver the keynote at greenfoothills.org’s annual fete, this year called “Nature’s Inspiration.” Today is the official launch date for CALIFORNIA INSIDE OUT; MAPPING AN ECOLOGY OF MIND (Heyday Books), and I am headed to Book Shop Westportal in San Francisco for a talk and signing event. Thursday night is a reunion with my pal and podcast cohost, author, and Graton Chairman Greg Sarris at Copperfield’s in Santa Rosa. It’ll be a Place and Purpose reunion. Banned Books Week is October 4–10 📚 Let Books Be—Protect the Freedom to Read!

Banned Books Week highlights the value of free and open access to information, bringing together the entire book community—librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers—in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas. The most common justifications for censorship provided by complainants were false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters or themes; and covering topics of race, racism, equity, and social justice.
