It’s April, and dahlias are already blooming here in Sebastian, Florida 🌸
In most parts of the country, dahlias don’t make their appearance until late summer or even early fall—but down here, we’re on a completely different schedule. Our mild winters and early spring warmth give these beauties a head start, making spring bloom season feel like a little secret.
Dahlias actually originated in Mexico, so they love warmth—but not the intense, relentless heat that Florida brings later in summer. That’s why, this window right now? It’s kind of magic.
With thousands of named varieties—from soft, romantic pastels to bold, sunset tones—no two feel exactly the same. And because they have a relatively short vase life compared to other flowers, they’re not often shipped long distances. Which makes locally grown dahlias even more special.
A fleeting, seasonal luxury… right here in our backyard 💐
