Our last Spring Maker and we are crazy WILD for Kayan whole outfit and photos!! She made a wrap dress with the McCall’s M8661 pattern with the Abstract Layered Animal Print Rayon Poplin Taupe/Black fabric. 🖤🤎
Let’s get to know Kizzy:
🐾 How long have you been sewing, and how did you get started?
I’ve been sewing for years. I actually started with hand sewing, doing small projects like pillowcases and blankets. Once my mom got me my first sewing machine. I stepped into garment making and never looked back. That’s when I realize, yeah, I’m really good at this.
🐾 What drew you to this fabric from the spring collection?
The fabric didn’t just catch my eye. It shows me. Out of all the prints in the spring collection. This is the one that said, “KIZZY, don’t play with me, take me home,” and honestly, I’m glad I listened because the vision came together too well.
🐾 How would you describe your sewing style in 3 words?
Bold, playful, and expressive.
🐾 Did you envision a specific occasion or season when coming up with your final look?
I did not envision a specific occasion; however, I just let the fabric lead the vibe. It definitely gives spring energy with a little wear-me-anywhere moment.
🐾 Seam ripper: best friend or worst enemy?
The same ripper is my best friend
🐾 Where do you see yourself wearing your final look?
I see myself wearing my final look on a date night, wearing gold heels and matching accessories for an extra glow-up.
🐾 How was it to sew with this fabric? And would you recommend it for beginners, intermediate, or advanced sewists?
I absolutely loved sewing with the rayon poplin; it was soft, smooth, and super manageable from start to finish. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, from beginners to advanced sewists.
🐾 What comes first, the fabric or the pattern?
The fabric definitely comes first.
🐾 What was your inspiration behind your final look?
The inspiration behind the look was all about effortless beauty and letting the fabric do its thing. The print gave me soft, earthy, nature vibes, so I wanted something flowy, flirty, and easy to wear.
