Hi friends 👋🏽 hope y’all are all doing well + staying healthy! ⁣
I’ve been quite lately while in the process of recovery with my arm + shoulder. It’s healing but I know the road will be long + slow going with a lot of therapy. I seem to get a bit of baking done a little here + there- tbh I’ve been refraining from saying too much about my projects progress to give my body (+ honestly mind too) the time + space to heal. I’m pretty excited about this accomplishment though + I’m not quite ready to bake at mass now, but I couldn’t keep quite about this➡️⁣

Filipinx Bakeshop... a little project, something close to the my savory side of my heart is (very very) slowly coming along + I’m (very very) happy with this Pandesal (breakfast bread) recipe has come together! My plan is to soon be able to offer Filipinx Bakeshop Pandesal along with my not-so-sweet versions of stuffed breakfast breads: Pan de Ube 💜+ Pan de Coco 🥥 ⁣

When they are ready, I’ll have Wink Doughnuts + Filipinx Bakeshop items available to order on my website along with the Babes at Home baking kits! 🥣Just a little while longer until all the pieces come fully together on that, thanks for being patient. You’ll have a choice of vanilla + chocolate doughnuts holes in tiny + biggie sizes! And 5 glazes available: raspberry, strawberry, chocolate, ube + calamansi. 🍓🍩💜🍋🙌🏽⁣

Hi Friends- I’ve been distancing from all kinds of social things including social media lately + it’s been pretty nice.✨✨ I do miss y’all a lot + our amazing coffee dates ☕️ but I’m hopeful that in good time we’ll be right there again. ⁣
⁣
To be candid, I was in a spot a few weeks back where I was really worried about... well everything. It’s a difficult place to be with no clear way out + I didn’t want to feel like that so I made the choice not to. Literally as simple as that, I made my mind up + gave myself permission to be happy... while at the same time being worried. ⁣
⁣
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not abandoning the seriousness of our current circumstances, I didn’t tune out, I just didn’t stay worried, by choosing to be happy. I asked myself many times a day- Are you happy? Does this make you happy? Can you be happier? Instead of all the other questions that couldn’t be answered at this time + I acted in a way where I choose happiness.💃🏻🏋🏻‍♀️👩🏻‍🍳🧘🏻‍♀️🌷☀️⁣

Hi there 👋🏽 miss y’all! Hope everyone is doing good + staying at home as much as possible. ⁣
🏡 I had a friend share a thought that shifted my sight on things- if we all made choices with the mindset that we might be an asymptomatic COVID-19 carrier vs spending our efforts trying not to catch the 🦠 then perhaps we will flatten he curve rapidly. I decided to close Wink Doughnuts that day + pay focus to self care as a priority.⁣

I’ve been working on ways to shift to meet the needs of our time. 🆗⁣ I have Gift Cards available at giveandgetlocal.com check it out, there are lots of great Seattle small businesses on there, so this is a great way to support while staying at home. 🎁 ⁣

Another cool shift to keep ya’ll in pajamas all day is to bring to you BABES AT HOME BAKING KITS 👩🏻‍🍳these will be available in a few weeks + you’ll be set to bake your own doughnut holes.⁣

I’ve been shifting thoughts towards my friends + joined Seattle Restaurants United ❤️ + am advocating The Plate Fund💙 🍽 If you are in a position to donate, I urge you to do so.⁣

I want to give a huge shoutout to they have done an amazing job of shifting to meet our needs right now- they combined their sister restaurants + into one location in SLU. Cooking up goodness 4 days a week Thurs-Sun, serving thru outdoor pickup window, curbside + delivery options. On top of that they are a the spot for produce boxes🥦🥕🥬, flowers 💐+ cocktail kits🍸🥃. ⁣

I am excited that they will be the location for Wink Doughnuts PickUp Shop this Sunday since 🍩 complements their tasty Brunch!🥂 if you haven’t heard about PickUp Shop check your stories today. I’m almost sold out so DM me before they’re gone.

It turns out that under the weight of this pandemic’s economic fallout, & we need help NOW.
The Keeping Workers Paid + Employed Act (a section of the COVID-19 stimulus bill) was originally intended to support us.
After partisan disputes, last-minute changes opened up vital federal funding to larger franchisees -- the big guys that are now qualified will take over 50% of this allocated support. Masquerading these big guys as small businesses will literally kill us as local+independent businesses.
This bill is headed to the House -- NOW is the time to organize and more clearly define our needs. Speaking with one voice will show our leaders that .

Hi Friends 👋🏽 What a weird couple of weeks here in Seattle amidst the measures being put in place... not to mention the colder than average temperatures (come on 53 degrees, not 35🥶) Looks like we all will be staying inside our homes for a while longer. Don’t forget- still live ya lives! 🙅🏻‍♀️🦠⁣

💫There are a lot of small businesses out in our community that are impacted greatly, you can lend your support from the comfort of your couch zone 🛋 it’s super easy- just:⁣
1. Get take-out/delivery meals from your favorite local independent restaurants. You want the yum + many of them want to give it to you! I’ve began posting menus in my stories of places that are open + doing take out + I’ve had luck with re: dietary restrictions/food allergies.
2. Ask places if they have gift cards for later purchases. Many of the food trucks we visit aren’t able to operate while we are all avoiding crowds (the primary source of 💰 for food truck businesses). If you love seeing these folx slinging the good good on the streets- send them some love + buy a gift card.
3. Ask how you can support. Think about all the awesome makers in our community + reach out to them on social media to ask how you may support them. ⁣
