Ten years ago today we opened the doors of Alki Surf Shop not knowing what to expect. We struggled at first, but with the help of so many great friends and customers we've enjoyed a decade of fun in the sun. A big thank you to all of you as we look forward to another 10 years. Mahalo!

Here's Kahuna Dave of Alki Surf Shop, a.k.a., "Have Clam Gun, Will Travel." 🌊🦪 . During the off-season, he's in the store Friday—Sunday. On the other days he takes care of projects at home, does maintenance at our Airbnb (The Horsfall House) and enjoys rare chances to relax at Copalis, the "other beach."

This March and April, Washington Fish & Wildlife has opened a lot of dates to dig for razor clams. So, Dave and ("Mrs. Kahuna," ) have twice ventured to the ocean. With clam gun in hand, Dave proudly shows off a recent "catch of the day." 🤠

Have you gone digging for razor clams? It's fun! You'll need a clam gun and a one-day license that allows you a limit of 15 clams. We have 2 permits. Take 'em home, clean 'em (look it up on YouTube), then do what we do: 👩‍🍳

Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder
Dust with flour
Dip in an egg wash
Coat in panko, then
Deep fry until golden 👍

Fresh razor clams are amazing.😋

There will be lots of opportunities to see cool aquatic flora and fauna. If you bring a plastic bag to collect bits of debris and plastic, you can help make the beach a better place. You can stop by the shop if you need one.
