Can you see the tiny flecks of red on this coleus? We’ve nicknamed this one Whisperspark! It’s all lime and hush with just the faintest ember glimmer. ♥️

Coleus are endlessly versatile—bold, soft, flashy, shy. Whether they’re showing off or staying quiet, there’s always something to love in their leaves.

Oh hey, it's us! The founders of Third Orbit Flora. We are real people, growing real plants, with real heart. People often ask how we got started, and the truth is, it wasn’t one single moment. It was green beans off the vine, dirt under the nails, and a shared look between friends that said, “We could grow something here.”

We’re starting small, but these plants are mighty. 🌿

This is our very first curated offering of live plants! Check out a handful of favorites we’ve nurtured ourselves. You’ll find a baby Pink Princess, a few sizes of Monstera (grown from seed by us!), stunning fishbone prayer plants, and golden pothos for the trailing plant lovers.

It’s a quiet beginning, but one that’s full of potential, just like the plants themselves.

Look at these gorgeous babies! Third Orbit Flora grows houseplants, but in our personal gardens we grow all kinds of things! We started these bell peppers from seed and are beginning the hardening off process so they can be transplanted in our raised beds outdoors after the nights get warmer. 🌱 ☀️ ☀️

Every touch leaves a trace. For plants, it’s written in the way they grow. 🌬️🌿

It’s called thigmomorphogenesis, and it’s how some plants adapt to motion and touch by changing how they grow. Over time, stems thicken, internodes shrink, and the whole plant takes on a sturdier shape—all without a single sound.

We look at Mimosa pudica—the famously touch-sensitive plant—to explore how plants sense movement in the first place. The science is surprisingly elegant, and once you know it’s happening, you’ll start seeing it everywhere.

Thigmomorphogenesis is how plants respond to touch and movement, growing shorter, sturdier, and sometimes delaying flowering. It’s not a flaw—it’s plant Pilates, building strength before bloo…

🌙 What would you grow in a moon garden?

We imagined a greenhouse in lunar orbit—not one for survival, but one for presence. Coleus for color, mint for scent. Butterfly pea for blue tea.

Even in a place like the moon, there might be room for a little color, a little comfort, a little life.

A quiet exploration of how imagining life beyond Earth can bring us closer to it. ❤️
