Thousands of glass-like panels installed as cladding, over 4000 of them are all made from salt crystals at Luma Arles arts center. Each panel was created by using a custom metal mesh frame, which are then submerged underwater in salt marshes, where salt crystal grow all over their surface. Process takes approximately 2 weeks and relies solely on sun and wind. They are naturally fireproof; and the panels has a low environmental impact.

Amadou, a leathery material derived from the fruit of fungus. Furniture designer Mari Koppanen used it to upholster a rotund stool and matching bench and topped them with fluffy wool. The material is fully biodegradable, cruelty-free and natural. Traditionally, pieces of amadou are connected using a glue made from animal bone collagen, but Koppanen opted for vegan bookbinding glue instead. The leather itself has a texture and warm brown color reminiscent of suede. 📸Dezeen
