πŸŽ‡2024 Recap: Been a little while since my last post, but can't miss an opportunity to reflect on another fun year of pulp collecting.

Made some progress on my early Weird Tales run, with a 1923 and two 1924 issues. Super tough, but I'm still trying to put the full 1923-1925 run together! Slow and steady wins the race 🐒

Picked up my first piece of original art πŸ‘½

Dipped my toe in the sinister/spicy/saucy world, and then , and convinced me the πŸ”₯ was too much for me to handle πŸ˜‚, and took them off my hands.

Filled some first appearance gaps in my collection, including the inspiration for Tec27 in The Shadow - Partners of Peril (thanks !)

And most importantly I got to meet and hang out with some awesome collectors and all-around good people. Hope you all had an amazing 2024, and that all of your pulp dreams come true in 2025.

P.s. No slabs in this post, but I'll follow up tomorrow with a recap of all the books I slabbed in 2024

Perfect day to get my original art back from framing!

New Story Magazine - August 1913 and All-Story Cavalier Weekly - May 16 1914... Third and fourth Tarzan cover appearances 🦁

Not quite the first appearance, but I love these two Tarzan covers which are the third and fourth cover appearances from 1913 and 1914. The New Story especially is such a classic image of Tarzan swinging through the jungle. It's also a complete πŸ‘» of a pulp, so I'm super happy to have a copy.

SOLD! A few big books went out the door to new homes recently. The Startling January 1950 Robot cover and March 1950 Witch woman covers were the two highest graded on the (still very early) census, beating out a few pedigree copies. The Lone Ranger was a nice high grade copy that went to a friend instead of the plastic factory πŸ˜‚.

Getting a little bit better at letting go! And before you DM, sorry I don't share buyer names or prices...but I will share what might be for sale soon 😁. Happy hunting

Spider #1 - October 1933 - 4.5 OW pages

Another first issue, this time of the Spider πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ. Cover by Walter Baumhofer who also illustrated Doc Savage #1 (and all of the early Doc covers). Spider #1 was released the same month as the Batwoman Weird Tales issue πŸ¦‡ ♀️. What a fun month to be a pulp collector!

Analog - December 1963 and March 1965 βŒ› πŸͺ±

First appearance of Dune in print from Analog in 1963, and the classic sandworm cover from 1965. Excited to re-watch the second Dune movie this weekend! I loved the 1984 Dune movie, and the mini series on SyFy from early 2000s is underrated (and features James McAvoy aka young Professor X), but Villeneuve really took the story to a new level. Can't wait for the next movie 🍿πŸŽ₯

Secret Agent X #1 - February 1934 - 4.5 White pages

Taking inspiration from and posting a πŸ’€ Secret Agent X pulp. Pulpapalooza is only a week away (thanks to our hosts and ) and I'm super excited for a pulp-themed weekend. Still figuring out what to bring....any requests?

Weird Tales #1 - March 1923 - 0.5 CR/OW

If you know me, you know I absolutely love Weird Tales so this is one of my grails. This is the first state cover with the reversed color scheme. Classic case of "buy the book, not the grade". Back cover and last page are half gone, but the front presents beautifully. Big thanks to for the hookup on this one! πŸ™

This one is staying locked up, but I'll have plenty others to bring next week to Pulpapalooza! Hope to see a lot of you there! 🍻

SOLD! First three issues of Secret 6 from 1934. Always loved this short run of 4 issues, but decided to finally let them go and chase some other things on my want list. 😈 πŸ”₯

For Sale: instant pulp collection, full of keys and some pretty rare books 😲

It's been a fun ride folks, but I've made the tough decision to move on from pulp collecting. I'll always enjoy the art and stories in the pulps, but it takes a lot of energy and πŸ’° to keep chasing. It's time to put that energy towards another hobby....

Open to trade for VHS tapes and modern Pokemon cards. Serious inquiries only. 😁
