Then & now. Humble beginnings for Vecina.
On May 18th of 2020, I signed a lease at 701 Cedar Avenue in the South Side of Scranton on a gut feeling that I could and would manufacture masks during the pandemic โ I shipped thousands.
Six years later, in May 2026, Vecina has grown into something I never could have imagined. What started from necessity turned into a space where I could fully explore my creativity.
Since then, Iโve designed and manufactured a bag line, created gowns for mothers of brides and grooms, altered bridal gowns, made custom bridal gowns, and taught both private and group sewing lessons. Some days I feel completely focused and right on track, and other days I still have no idea whatโs coming next. Thatโs the reality of building something creative from the ground up. And let's not forget about moving into a beautiful new space in Downtown Scranton.
Along the way, when difficult decisions had to be made, a good friend once told me to โdo what you do bestโ and gracefully gave me the space to figure out what that meant. I think I have a pretty good idea now. Iโm still figuring things out, but Iโm incredibly proud of how far Vecina has come.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my business, trusted my work, taken a class, purchased a bag, ordered a gown, or simply encouraged me along the way. It means more than you know.
