My brain works in chaotic patterns but all my 'crafty' work is symmetrical in count / color / pattern / repetition.

Can’t believe Christmas was already a month ago. Here’s my dad in his alpaca sweater. It fit him perfectly. I was so worried it wouldn’t. That’s the challenge of remote knitting. You can’t re-measure your subject or check for fit as you go. It’s all guesstimating based off a good set of original measurements and proper gauge swatch testing!! If you ask me, he’s looking pretty proud to be wearing something made by his daughter 🥰

This took 2 days to dry but man was it worth the wait! So happy with how this has turned out and just in time for the cooler seasons. The weight of yarn is perfect for our Canadian autumn weather 🍁 🍂

Done. I’ve been sidetracked working on some knit and crochet pieces and also … working on some of my own knit and crochet designs. Throwing around the idea of making patterns as well. Let’s see how long I stay focused on this 😁

Anyone else feeling like Canada Day is super inappropriate this year? I feel duped by my own country that I used to be so proud of. I feel helpless. Much like BLM, I don’t know what to do or how to help incite change. Or even what to say. I’m dumbfounded by the horror of what’s being found at these residential schools. All the terrible things that have happened. None of it was taught in school when I was growing up. The first time I heard of a residential school was in the last decade. I’m 47 years old. It’s that deeply hidden in our country’s history, that in almost 50 years of living I never knew about this ‘dark chapter’ as JT keeps calling it. I feel sick that the government keeps labelling it a past action. Like it was so long ago, let’s just be better now and move forward. Except the people that witnessed and lived these atrocities are alive. They have families. The trauma gets passed down. Do you know what that means when people say trauma is passed down generation to generation? I heard it really well explained by a First Nation woman recently. She basically said this ‘My mother is a residential school survivor. She survived hell. She made my life, and all of my siblings lives hell. That’s what trauma like that does. It gets passed on from generation to generation. That’s why when someone says it’s history you are insulting every single one of us. It’s not history. It’s life as we know it today’. ✊🏽
