Parigi Books (est. 2006) is an independent antiquarian bookstore located in the heart of Schenectady and open by appointment. We buy and sell fine books and collectibles in all fields with a strong focus on science fiction, fantasy, mystery, comics and graphic novels. Our eclectic taste is reflected in the ample variety of items available, from significant titles from the 1600s on to original comi

c art, from collectible paperbacks to literary magazines. We carry in stock the best selection of Italian language graphic novels and comics you can find this side of the pond. During the years we have always paid particular attention to the collecting side of the business and, being fairly strict graders, have made thousands of customers happy. Parigi Books is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the Independent Online Booksellers' Association.

Here's another excellent survivor: Br-r-r-!, 1st edition, published in 1959 by Avon Publications, Inc. A nice anthology featuring stories by Ray Bradbury, Theodore Sturgeon, Charles Beaumont, Roald Dahl, Isaac Asimov and others.

A collector‑grade paperback is a paradox: a disposable object that somehow refused to be disposed of. Hardcovers were engineered to endure. Paperbacks were the opposite. They were printed fast, sold cheap, read hard, and treated like temporary companions. They got bent in back pockets, sun‑bleached on dashboards, and sacrificed to beach sand, subway grime, and teenage backpacks.
So when one turns up decades later with a tight spine, crisp edges, and colors that still pop, you’re not just looking at “nice condition.” You’re looking at a statistical anomaly. A survivor. A book that somehow dodged every crease, spill, and careless toss that should have ended it.
In some cases, the only realistic way to find a paperback this clean would be to fire up a time machine, step into the original shop/newsstand on release week, and pluck it off the rack before anyone had the chance to love it to death.

Here’s one of the lucky few that defied the odds and came through the decades unscathed: Blood Money by Dashiell Hammett, published by Dell in 1944.

I’ll be sharing additional pieces in the days ahead. These are all available for purchase at www.parigibooks.com

This way, you won't even need a time machine!

Original comic art for page 8? of The Tomb of Dracula #3 from the story And Out of Order Will Come -- Chaos! Pencil, ink and wash on 11 x 17" art board. Great piece with a fearsome Dracula looming over his beautiful victim, fresh bite marks on her neck. As Frank Drake and Rachel Van Helsing charge in to rescue her, the vampire dissolves into a swirling cloud of mist. Two pin holes to top edge, light toning and wear. Very good. $2500.

Italian editions of American superhero comics are a collector’s goldmine. They offer unique cover art, different editorial choices -- sometimes even exclusive stories or formats. Many runs (like L’Uomo Ragno) include issues, printings, or variants unavailable elsewhere. For collectors, that means scarcity, surprise, and a richer narrative of how global fandom shaped the mythos of superheroes.

It’s not just about owning the story -- it’s about owning its evolution in different cultures.

We always carry in stock Italian counterparts of significant American series.

Here we present a nice copy of Fantastic Four #1, published by Editoriale C***o in 1971.

Enticed by the promise of $1,000 a week, Spider-Man storms Avengers headquarters to enlist. Fate intervenes as a shrieking alarm summons Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to battle.
A standout piece by Al Milgrom and Joe Sinnott showcasing Spider-Man, She-Hulk and Captain America.
