The first thing many people have asked me as I have shared this news is, what can I do to support you? And there are two things:
Show up this month and buy the things. We are going to try to sell as much of our inventory as possible at full price, so that I can pay off the debts that have allowed Freehand to exist and be able to close this chapter well. 💥 If the shop has brought anything to you over the years, the very best thing you can do to give back is to show up in the next few weeks and buy whatever has been calling to you 💥
Let us know what the shop has meant for you. If you’re in the shop over the next few weeks or if you want to leave a comment and let us know what you’ve gotten from Freehand, it will mean so much to me and to Carey. It’s really comforting to know that our work has had a purpose and been appreciated. This is also, by the way, one of the best ways to show up when someone passes - tell their loved ones what they meant to you, or recount a special memory with them. It’s easy to do and goes much, much farther than “I’m sorry for your loss.”
Next question you might have is, what about my rewards points?
Great Q! If you didn’t use your points discounts for holiday shopping, you are welcome to use them in the next two weeks, while all our inventory is still full price. Once we start with a storewide sale, we’ll stop allowing rewards discounts to be redeemed. If you have a gift card, you can use it anytime until we close the doors.
Ah! So you’re going to have a sale?
Yes, probably. We’ll start with a small clearance section this week. Like I said earlier, we hope to sell as much as possible at full price first, but at some point in the month, we will start marking down whatever is left.
When will the last day be?
We are tentatively planning on Jan 28th, but will keep you posted. We will also be having a celebration of life party at some point this month to send her off well!
