Yesterday I ran into Ken Vance.

Ken was the head of public safety at Georgia College and gave a speech at my freshman year orientation where he shared a story about having personally driven to Athens to pick up a student who had been over served, woke up in a different zip code, and needed a safe lift back to Milledgeville.

He was very gracious and I could see how touched he was to hear someone share that memory 21 years later.

It’s made me reflect on his speech that day in the fall of 2005, and about the message conveyed: “At Georgia College, we’re gonna care about you like your parents and family care about you.”

That’s always felt like the difference at Georgia College & State University. You’re never just a number.

Tomorrow is the 1️⃣1️⃣-year anniversary of the day I launched my business on May 22, 2015

My work with Oconee Area Citizen Advocacy began in 2011 and led me down a path to discover my life’s purpose and calling

I was introduced to Graphic Recording & Facilitation at the Toronto Summer Institute for Inclusion in 2012. I saw people using hand-drawn graphic imagery, not as art, but as a change agent. It awakened my lifelong love of drawing, doodling, and sketching that I had put away for many years, and became an outlet for me to do what comes most naturally and instinctively, at an intersection where I could make an impact and also make a living

The first few years weren’t easy, but I kept producing work that inspired me and tried not to be too attached to how I’d be rewarded or compensated

When you own a business, the hustle never stops. I could not be more grateful for the many people, organizations, and businesses who have entrusted me through the years to bring clarity to the complex

I have a long way to go but am spending this time reflecting and feeling very proud of what we’ve accomplished together and all that’s to come

Thank you for 1️⃣1️⃣ Colorful years 🌟🥳

Participated today in a panel discussion of Georgia College & State University alumni who have used their liberal arts degrees to carve out creative career paths ✨

For the last 15 years I’ve been out here DOING IT with the tools I gained at GCSU and today was a moment to talk about it, reflect, and share some insights with students about all of the possibilities.

Extremely grateful for this opportunity and to the entire experience I had at GCSU 💙💚

It was an honor to support my friend Ellie Potts today as she presented her doctoral dissertation at the University of Georgia on Universal Design for Learning ✨

Graphic recording exemplifies Universal Design for Learning by translating ideas into clear, visual formats that make information more accessible, engaging, and understandable for diverse learners.

Congratulations Dr. Potts 👩‍🎓
