I thought I knew patience, joy, and resilience. But then my son came into this world, and with every single day, he has taught me that love is deeper than I ever imagined, patience is infinite when given with understanding, and joy can be found in the smallest, most beautiful moments.
My son—my incredible, brilliant, one-of-a-kind boy—sees the world in a way that I never could before him. He has shown me the beauty in repetition, the magic in details that others overlook, and the unspoken ways love can be shared. His laughter is the purest sound I have ever heard, and his victories, no matter how big or small, feel like the greatest triumphs of my life.
Autism is not something to be feared or “fixed.” It is a part of who my son is, woven into every part of his being. And because of him, I have learned to slow down, to appreciate the world through his eyes, to celebrate differences instead of trying to fit into expectations.
Has it always been easy? No. There are days filled with challenges, with tears, with moments of doubt. But even on the hardest days, he continues to teach me—about resilience, about strength, about love without conditions or limits. He has changed my world in ways I never could have imagined, and I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.
This Autism Awareness Month, I don’t just want awareness—I want true understanding, acceptance, and appreciation for the beautiful, vibrant, extraordinary minds that make this world a better place. My son has taught me that autism isn’t something to be feared—it is something to be embraced. And because of him, I am forever changed.
