And this is why she’s the best!
How can you be effective without a brick and mortar clinic? This is a pretty common skepticism I get. But the truth is, good PT has nothing to do with equipment and everything to do with listening and the development of recognizing patterns and treating the body as a whole instead of compartmental symptoms.
I don't think I can give a better example than today. A woman with a decade+ of excruciating back pain that western medicine has not been able to even treat the symptoms effectively. Talking on the phone for a few minutes, I mentioned "It sounds like you are having pelvic floor dysfunction, not back pain". She says "Oh my gosh, how did you know that? I was told that years ago but no one could help me!"
I knew because I was listening. Patients will tell you what is wrong if you listen long enough. I knew later when I saw her that she was having cortisol issues due to the other story clues she gave me. If you never treat real causes, symptoms will never go away, you are just masking them.
So, effective PTs are not ones with flashy expensive equipment (although i do pull some interesting tools out of my bag sometimes). But ones who can put the pieces together to find root causes instead of just treating symptoms.
What will your victory be?
