🦋 If pollinators could talk, they’d say bring on Lantana!

Bright blooms and plenty of nectar make Lantana (Lantana camara) a favorite stop for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Even better, this Florida-friendly favorite thrives in sunshine and heat, producing colorful flower clusters over a long blooming season.

Plant lantana in sunny beds, borders or containers where you can enjoy both the flowers and the steady stream of garden visitors they attract.

🌸 Long-lasting color
🌿 Drought tolerant once established

🌿 Bring a touch of the tropics home with this week’s Plant of the Week, the beautiful Anthurium! Known for glossy, heart-shaped foliage and colorful, long-lasting blooms, these striking plants add vibrant color and texture to almost any space.

Anthuriums prefer bright, indirect light, warm temperatures and plenty of humidity. Keep the soil lightly moist but well drained, allowing the top inch to begin drying between waterings.

Here in Southwest Florida, Anthuriums are wonderful for indoor spaces, covered lanais, shaded patios and other protected outdoor areas. Keep them out of harsh afternoon sun and protect them when temperatures dip below about 50°F.

With proper care, Anthuriums can reward you with their distinctive tropical blooms again and again throughout the year. Stop in and see why we chose it as our Plant of the Week!

🌿 Angelwing Jasmine or Jasmine Sambac: Which Will Win a Place in Your Heart & Garden?

Both varieties offer beautiful white flowers and fragrance, but these two true jasmines have noticeably different looks and growth habits.

✔️Angelwing Jasmine (Jasminum nitidum), also called Shining Jasmine, is known for its glossy green foliage and elegant, star-shaped white flowers with long, narrow petals. It has a loose, sprawling to climbing habit and can be trained on a trellis, fence or other support, or kept more shrub-like with regular pruning. Its delicate-looking blooms add a graceful tropical touch to the landscape.

✔️Jasmine Sambac (Jasminum sambac), commonly called Arabian Jasmine, tends to grow as a compact shrub or scrambling vine. Its white flowers are fuller and more rounded, and some varieties produce beautiful double blooms. Sambac is especially prized for its intensely sweet fragrance and can flower repeatedly during warm weather.

Both perform well in bright conditions and prefer fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture while becoming established. Choose Angelwing Jasmine if you love delicate, starry flowers and want a plant that can be trained to climb or allowed to spread. Choose Jasmine Sambac if your priority is incredibly fragrant, fuller white flowers on a more compact, shrub-like plant that’s ideal for containers near patios or entryways.

Yes, this is a zebra plant! 🌿 But perhaps not the one you’re used to seeing!

Sanchezia speciosa is a spectacular tropical plant known for its large, glossy green leaves highlighted by bold golden-yellow veins that create that unmistakable “zebra” look. And the foliage is only part of the show! Mature plants can produce colorful flower spikes with bright yellow blooms and reddish-orange bracts.

Perfect for adding lush, tropical texture to the landscape, Sanchezia thrives in bright filtered light to partial shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil. In our warm Florida climate, it can grow approximately 3–6’ tall (and 2-4’ wide), creating an impressive accent in a protected garden bed or large container.

If you love plants with foliage that makes just as much of a statement as flowers, Sanchezia speciosa deserves a closer look! 💛

🌼 What is Lysimachia ‘Golden Globes’?

We call it a cheerful, trailing plant that brings a burst of sunshine to containers and garden beds! You’ll see brilliant, five-petal golden-yellow flowers set boldy against lush green foliage.

This low-growing beauty develops a spreading, trailing habit that makes it especially attractive along the edges of mixed planters, hanging baskets (as shown), borders and garden beds. Its vivid yellow blooms provide a wonderful pop of color and contrast beautifully with tropical foliage and other flowering plants.

✔️Low-growing, spreading habit
✔️Great as a groundcover or edging plant
✔️Beautiful trailing from containers and baskets
✔️Adds instant color and texture to mixed plantings
✔️Easy to incorporate into small garden spaces

In Southwest Florida, Lysimachia thrives in morning sun or partial shade, particularly when temperatures are at their hottest. Give it moist, well-drained soil and regular watering to keep it looking its best. As a groundcover, its spreading growth can create a lush carpet of foliage while the sunny yellow blooms rise above the leaves.
