🌿 Angelwing Jasmine or Jasmine Sambac: Which Will Win a Place in Your Heart & Garden?
Both varieties offer beautiful white flowers and fragrance, but these two true jasmines have noticeably different looks and growth habits.
✔️Angelwing Jasmine (Jasminum nitidum), also called Shining Jasmine, is known for its glossy green foliage and elegant, star-shaped white flowers with long, narrow petals. It has a loose, sprawling to climbing habit and can be trained on a trellis, fence or other support, or kept more shrub-like with regular pruning. Its delicate-looking blooms add a graceful tropical touch to the landscape.
✔️Jasmine Sambac (Jasminum sambac), commonly called Arabian Jasmine, tends to grow as a compact shrub or scrambling vine. Its white flowers are fuller and more rounded, and some varieties produce beautiful double blooms. Sambac is especially prized for its intensely sweet fragrance and can flower repeatedly during warm weather.
Both perform well in bright conditions and prefer fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture while becoming established. Choose Angelwing Jasmine if you love delicate, starry flowers and want a plant that can be trained to climb or allowed to spread. Choose Jasmine Sambac if your priority is incredibly fragrant, fuller white flowers on a more compact, shrub-like plant that’s ideal for containers near patios or entryways.
