I have received the sweetest “we miss you!” Emails in the last couple months! I hope this post explains our absence after our last move: After moving Brant’s from our Lime Ave location I was able to purchase another property close by…the only caveat was it didn’t have a building on it for the store…my thinking was putting up a simple metal building much smaller than than the old store with room enough for a coffee shop and cozy bookstore. My plans have not changed. Brants has been part of Sarasota history for over 65+ years and I have loved being involved with the store since I worked for Mr Brant when I was 9 years old (please don’t do the math) Books are knowledge, and if this world needs anything right now it’s knowledge and community-both things that books seemed to bring together💗I have been talking with the city about the project, and they have really tried to help me along the way…and been excited about the concept. Unfortunately life does not always move as quickly as we think it should, many contractors are tied up in larger project or supplies have tripled in price! I have actually looked at moving a historic house here, but that didn’t work out. I am open to suggestions and ideas! I am also looking at shipping containers and modular buildings. Again anything that can safely house books and people and has a hurricane rating…it’s a rather exciting project, but I am one person learning and researching as I go. I was thinking of getting a group of customers together and brainstorming ideas? So the answer is..yes..Brants will continue…but I want to create something special, something where people and knowledge can come together and expand the Universe. Lofty goals , I know, but magical things take time!! Both Max and I are getting grey hairs as we wait!!😂
