Well there’s no way I can shut this page down without first giving major credit where credit is due. [Long post alert!]
First of all, Savvy Boutique would literally have never existed without my amazing husband. Kirk supported me in this venture in every possible way a person can support another person. I’m so incredibly lucky to have a partner who encourages, inspires and lifts me up everyday. He listened to complaints, frustrations and gripes and offered suggestions and solutions. He celebrated the wins with me and even helped me recognize wins I might have missed when I was too tired or busy or had already moved on to the next hurdle. I couldn’t ask for a better teammate, champion and supporter.
I also could never have done this without major help and support from my family.
Polly - thank you for making yourself available whenever I needed you. It’s safe to say you went above and beyond “Bebe” duties so that I could work and I am so grateful my girls have such a strong, positive, happy woman to look up to.
Katie - thank you for your support in all ways. You supported my store, you supported me and you took my kids on amazing adventures while I worked.
My mama - thank you for being such an amazing mom and Nana. When Nana was around I was able to work without any concern or worry for who would take care of the kids that day or who would be keeping the house in order. You always had it under control and boy are my kids lucky to have you as their song singing, parade marching, grocery store playing Nana.
Dad - thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement and for every single Facebook post “like”. You definitely win the award for liking every single post I ever made. Closely followed by Aunt Kim. 😊
THANK YOU to every single customer, consignor, post-liker and sharer. There are too many of you to list but you know who you are, I see you and I am forever indebted to you. I am so lucky to have had customers who truly loved this store and this space - you made it all worth it. My consignors entrusted me with their amazing items, which Savvy Boutique could not exist without. And not one social media like, comment or share went unnoticed. I’m grateful for every last one.
I have learned SO much over the last 21 months. I’m so sad it’s over - I had so many ideas and plans for Savvy Boutique that I was unable to see through. But, running a small business is no joke, especially in a small town...during a pandemic! I have a newfound respect for small business owners, especially here in SL, and the perseverance, grit, creativity, strength and resilience that is necessary of them. Because without those qualities, and more, small businesses cannot exist.
So here it goes, my last plug - SHOP LOCAL. We can’t just say it, we have to DO IT. Even if it’s a little less convenient and even if it’s a little more expensive. It’s imperative to our little town, and all towns, to support the people who are providing value to our community. And I can now personally attest to the fact that every single dollar spent at a small business is appreciated, needed and valued beyond measure.
Goodbye Savvy Boutique. That was quite an adventure. Take care of each other. Love each other. Keep buying pre-owned clothes - it’s so good for the 🌎. Oh, and VOTE.
