This plate from a rusted significantly under the primer, after it was left in a patio-type situation for some months.

We had to grind away a lot more than expected because the rust has spread far past the bubbling. to the rescue! We'll sculp, sand, and refinish this (and the whole plate) in the coming weeks.

As a piano tech..,I am often asked by folks who need to tent and fumigate their homes for termites, what should happen to their piano, move it out or cover or wrap in plastic? Answer is no to plastic, cover well with moving pads/blankets and you don't need to move it out. Air the room out well with fans and open the piano when you return

My condo village is being tented and fumigated to kill termites. The contractor told me that it is quite safe for pianos, explaining that there is no residue at all and adding that they have tented places such as a local college's music department, which has many pianos, with no problems. ...

this Steinway C from 1889 is too far gone to be restored. We went back to it a second time in hopes that we could salvage it; but it would take too much work for us. Maybe another rebuilder out there is interested?

If you've never heard a [almost] 150 year old piano, here ya go! New strings and new hammers, but it sounds very close to how it did when it was brand new. (piano techs playing here, plz don't judge)

This piano was built the same year the phonograph was invented.We've done a lot of work to get this piano working great! New back action and strings, action...
