Let's spice it up! The special recipe we bring you today is a drink made with dark chocolate and chilli pepper. This yummy recipe can be enjoyed even as a dessert, cause why not?!

Cheers! 🍫🍸

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup of chopped dark chocolate (we like India 67% + Baniwa Pepper 70%)
- 2 cups of oat milk (regular dairy milk or almond milk would work, too)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- dash of salt
- 1–4 Tbs **[coconut sugar](https://www.theendlessmeal.com/amazon-coconut-sugar)**
- 2 shots of brandy
- If you like it very spicy, add 1 chili pepper, split in half and seeds removed

How to make it:

1. Melt the chocolate with a little of the milk in a small pot over medium heat. Whisk in the remaining milk, the cinnamon, vanilla, and dash of salt. Add the chili pepper, if you like it very hot, to the pot and bring the pot almost to a boil. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 10 min. Remove and discard the chili pepper.

2. Whisk in the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, and taste until it is a sweetness of your liking. Add the brandy to the pot.

3. Pour the spicy Aztec hot chocolate into mugs and serve!

Pro tip: If you fancy a Frozen Hot Chocolate, let the drink cool to room temperature, pour it into a blender with 3-5 ice cubes and blend it until smooth.

Movie, popcorn and chocolate goes well in a lazy weekend.

This month's suggestion is the 2007 romantic drama film *My Blueberry Nights*, directed by one of our favorite directors, Wong Kar-wai. If you haven't seen it yet, this movie will take you on a soul-searching adventure.

• My Blueberry Nights:
After an unexpected breakup, Elizabeth (Norah Jones) seeks consolation in a small cafe in New York. Sad and lost, she begins to travel and work along the way. She meets several interesting characters while traveling on a journey to understand love and heal from her broken heart.

• Recipe:
You’ll need a bar of any single-origin chocolate (we recommend the India 67%) and popped unsalted popcorn. Use bain-marie or a double boiler to gently melt the chocolate, or put it in the microwave in 30 second intervals to achieve the same result.

Slowly pour the melted chocolate onto the popcorn, drain any excess and let it dry. Your sweet popcorn with chocolate is ready to go! Add shaved almonds and coconut slices to make it even more delicious.

Share this post with those you'll enjoy the weekend!

Did you know that cacao was used as currency?

Back in the 7th century, before the discovery of the Americas by Europeans, the Mayans and Aztecs in Central America used the dried cacao beans as a symbol of power and as currency!

Cacao beverages were also part of their culture and the plant was very important to their society.

Peter Martyr, who was apparently a great lover of chocolate, and an early observer of the Aztec society, once wrote about cacao:

“Blessed money which furnishes mankind with a sweet and nutritious beverage and protects its innocent possessors from the infernal disease of avarice, since it cannot be long hoarded, nor hidden underground!” (*De orbe novo* [Alcala, 1530, dec. 5, cap. 4].24)

The chocolate of the day is Sarsaparilla Root 68%. Probably the most intriguing chocolate inclusion we've ever made. The inspiration for making this chocolate bar came from a local tea that we drink and love.

We sometimes call it the "root beer" chocolate bar, as its unique flavor resembles the old-fashioned root beer. If you're not afraid to try unconventional flavors, this bar is for you!

Sarsaparilla root is a great source of antioxidants and is widely used in Ayurveda. The herb is considered a tonic with restorative properties, addressing excessive heat to balance Pitta dosha. It is believed to help regulate digestion and metabolism. A chocolate that satisfy your cravings while taking care of your health.

Learn how to harmonize and pair chocolate and rum. If you are new to pairing or haven't tried it yet, give this a try.

Don't forget to tag a friend you want to invite to a night of pairing.

1. Rum and chocolate go really well! Made from sugar cane, the Caribbean liquor is sweet and is usually aged in oak barrels.

2. Aged rum is darker and pair best with dark or milk chocolate. Our take is Bahia Brazil 70% or Baniwa Pepper 70% with aged rum for a great combination of flavors!

3. Lighter rum, also made from sugar cane, is filtered and bottled right after being distilled, without aging. This type of rum goes well with lighter chocolates or chocolates with spices, to harmonize with its flavor. Our suggestion is Amazon Chai 45%.

4. Save and share these tips with your friends.

Why choose bean-to-bar chocolate?

• Industrialized chocolate and other mass production foods have a multitude of ingredients our bodies don't need and can even change the real flavor of ingredients. And by doing so big food manufactories are aiming profit over quality. The more the ingredients, the more volume, and profits, but essentially less natural and probably less nutritious your food or chocolate will be.

• Today we're well aware of how preservatives and additives can be harmful to our health and consumers are more conscious by the day.

• Besides preserving the nutrition aspects and the flavor characteristics our bean-to-bar chocolate is made with socially responsible sources. We're proud to say each cacao bean and ingredients are sourced through a small chain of trusted brokers and distributors, farms and coops which gives us a closer relationship with the producer and a high quality product for our customers.

Do you know how to tell if your chocolate is ?

When we started Tiny House Chocolate, we decided to make only vegan chocolate bars because we wanted to include those with dietary restrictions and make it easy for them to find and buy chocolates they could eat and enjoy.

Dark chocolate is essentially vegan, but you should always read the ingredients list! Dark chocolate is a plant-based food, and it only needs two ingredients: cacao beans and sugar. Keep an eye out, some brands add fillers/stuffers derived from dairy, such as milk fat.

On the other hand, unlike dark chocolate, white and milk chocolate contains dairy in their recipes, but the good news is both can also be vegan if made with plant-based milk such as coconut milk.

When buying chocolate, our tip is to always look for those with fewer ingredients, and pay close attention if they have any additives that can compromise their quality.

Made with candied cupuaçu and cacao beans from Ecuador, this chocolate bar is our first fruit inclusion and it’s a keeper. Cupuaçu (pronounced /ku.ˌpu.a.ˈsu/) is a fruit native to the Amazon rainforest, from the same family of the cacao tree (Theobroma). Its exotic flavor is so rare that it feels like we are at the pear scene from the movie “City of Angels”. It resembles candied ginger in texture and appearance, has a cocoa-meets-pineapple scent and a tangy, fruity flavor with a delightful sweetness.

This bar is definitely one of our favorites. Have you tasted cupuaçu?

The weekend is here and nothing better than the combo: chocolate and movie! 🍫🎥

Our combo suggestion is the film Call Me By Your Name by director Luca Guadagnino which won the for Best Adapted Screenplay with Espirito Santo Brazil 75% chocolate.

• Combo: Call me By Your Name + Tanzania 70% Chocolate

• About the movie:
Based on the 2007 novel of the same name by André Sobren, the film takes place in the early 1980s and tells the story of a 17-year-old boy Elio (Timotheé Chalamet) who spends his days in a small village in northern Italy, playing classic music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia. Until one day, Oliver (Armie Hammer) appears, a charming American who works on his doctorate and arrives as an intern in charge of helping Elio's father, and his life changes completely.
