I enjoy clothing swaps, and I enjoy purchasing pre-owned clothing, not only for the cost benefit, but also because it conserves world energy resources by recycling clothes, and also because I can sometimes get really fine clothes for a low price.
But I have to say that: now that Tide Pods is on the earth, the terrible cloying smell in the many clothing items has caused me a lot of work and non-enjoyment.
I processed one cardigan I got through many, multiple soaks of vinegar water, Nature's Miracle stain and odor remover, and "9 Elements" clothing detoxifier, yet the smell of Tide Pods is still nearly as strong after months of having this piece of clothing around, waiting for the smell to break down as it had when I obtained it.
These scents are designed to cloy for up to 6-8 weeks minimum. Think of what that chemical is doing inside your body (because scents are designed cloy to fat cells).
As a chemically sensitive person...I think has more taste receptors throughout my whole body than the average person)...we all have taste receptors everywhere, they have discovered, throughout our circulation system and liver.
The scent burns my blood and tongue and makes me taste the chemical for hours or days after exposure. Luckily, scent chemical do not make me sick. I just taste perfumed tongue and burning skin and taste my own perfumy blood, which is not fun.
People: spread the word. Scent chemicals are thought to be endocrine disrupters, occupying sites in your cells for weeks on end that should be used for hormonal signalling.

It is not good to have your smell preceed you into a room, and then cloy to everything you touch as a reminder that you had been there. I think everyone has gone nose-blind, plus hoodwinked by the incessant barrage of smell-promoting commercials on the TV.
