BookMob keeps growing, and we are very grateful for it.

The only problem is that we are quickly running out of space in the garage. Books are starting to take over every corner, with boxes and packing materials everywhere. So we decided it was time to rent a small storage space close to the house, where we can store new arrivals and some of the slower-moving books while keeping everything better organized.

It is a good problem to have, and another little step forward for our small business.

Here’s what the process looks like right before a batch of books heads out to Amazon.

Once the books come in, we sort through everything, clean them up, and decide which ones make sense to ship via FBA. Then we list them, label each one, and prep them according to Amazon’s requirements. After that comes the boxing. We pack everything carefully, ensuring the weight is right and the books are secure so they don’t get damaged in transit. It’s a bit of a puzzle every time, fitting everything efficiently while keeping them protected.

These 5 boxes in the trunk are ready to go. From here they’re off to Amazon’s warehouses, and from there to their new owners.

A lot of people ask us where we find our books. Thrifting is one of our sourcing methods.
This was the turnaround from four different thrift stores. A lot of time digging through shelves, scanning titles, and looking for those overlooked nonfiction books that still have real value. It’s always a bit of a treasure hunt. You never really know what you’ll find until you put in the time.
I love it when a trip like this pays off. With gas prices where they are, every run is an investment, so it really matters to come back with good books. These four boxes contain about 100+ books that now need to be sorted, cleaned up, and prepared for the store.

Some finds still surprise us.

I came across a copy of The Mythic Image by Joseph Campbell at a library used bookstore here in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve always been drawn to his work. Campbell wasn’t just writing about myths, he was uncovering the structure behind storytelling itself. In The Hero with a Thousand Faces, he introduced the idea of the “hero’s journey,” a pattern that appears across cultures and has shaped the way modern stories are told. That framework became foundational in cinema, influencing filmmakers and shaping narratives we now take for granted, especially in films like Star Wars and across much of animation.

He later brought these ideas to a broader audience with The Power of Myth, where he explored how these ancient patterns still resonate in modern life and storytelling. His work continues to echo through film, television, and animation, often without people even realizing where those ideas come from.

The Mythic Image is one of his lesser-known books, published after the original hardcover edition, but it carries the same depth and visual richness. Something about it made me pull it off the shelf and start flipping through, curious to revisit his perspective.

That’s when I noticed it, signed on the first page.

Not something you expect to find sitting quietly on a used bookstore shelf, and exactly the kind of discovery that reminds you why we do this.

Every book has a story. Ours started with one person who knew how to find them.

Book Mob exists because of Katerina. She has always loved books, but more than that, she has a natural instinct for spotting hidden value. With her background in archaeology, she developed a trained eye for discovery and the discipline to organize, categorize, and preserve what matters. That mindset carried naturally into the world of books.

What began as a small idea grew into a real business. Katerina learned how to navigate online selling, manage multiple platforms, and build systems that keep everything running efficiently. Today, we handle a large and constantly changing inventory, always focused on connecting the right books with the right people.

We specialize in nonfiction, unique finds, and books that still hold value for collectors, researchers, and readers looking for something specific.

This is still growing, and we’re excited about where it’s going.
