Happy from Sanibel Island! 🌊✨

Standing 98 feet tall at Point Ybel, the Sanibel Lighthouse was first lit on August 20, 1884, to help guide ships into San Carlos Bay. Here’s a fascinating piece of its history: the schooner transporting the lighthouse’s ironwork sank just two miles offshore, but divers recovered nearly every piece so construction could continue!

More than 140 years later, this beloved landmark is still shining. After losing one of its supporting legs during Hurricane Ian, the lighthouse stood strong and was relit in February 2023, becoming a beautiful symbol of Sanibel’s resilience. ❤️

Today, we celebrate the history, strength and unmistakable charm that make our island so special. Visit the lighthouse, then continue exploring Sanibel by stopping by our local boutiques and discovering treasures of your own! 🛍️🐚

On Sanibel, the scenic route is always the best route! 🚲🌴

In honor of , we’re celebrating one of our favorite ways to get to work (and to shop!) on the island. Although Sanibel is only about 12 miles long and three miles wide, it features more than 26 miles of shared-use paths connecting beaches, parks, neighborhoods, restaurants and shopping districts from Lighthouse Beach Park to Blind Pass Bridge.

Whether you’re commuting to work or cruising between your favorite boutiques, grab your bicycle and pedal your way through paradise. Don’t forget to stop, shop and support Sanibel’s local businesses along the way! 🛍️☀️
