Returning from Dominica a couple of weeks ago. Making the transition is hard but i feel like the luckiest person. About a week after arrival had a planned heart procedure that went well and now i am waiting for my granddaughters' school bus and taking pictures of the various bark on the trees in Vancouver. 🙏🏼♥️☮️

Traveled north to Portsmouth, Dominica to a beautiful black sand beach on Toucari Bay. Great eating at "Keeping it Real" and the swimming the best.
Then yesterday Christina from Hamberg and I enjoyed our sullphur scrubs at Bambooz springs.

Woke early with a nervous stomach and thought today could be just a practice run for my hike to Galleon but once I started there was no way I was not going to complete my walk to Galleon from the bay in Soufriere. Incredibly beautiful and steep but in the shade.
And a super bonus: i thought the round trip total was the one way total so I surprised myself getting there in a fraction of my imagined time.
Ate my lunch and drank my guava juice
And walked back down.
Celebrated with a good coffee from the dive shop and a soak in the sulphur springs near my home. Go me !I feel so proud and yesterday i celebrated 17 years of sobriety. Thank you all♥️☮️🙏🏽

After some research i have discovered two walking paths up to Galleon. One shorter and steeper that leaves from sea level right above the beach.
The other a long and winding road through the jungle leaving from my house at about 500' above sea level.
Yesterday afternoon was total relaxation: bobbing in the Caribbean while a DJ plays reggae music and the local women love to sing along as they float about. ☮️🇩🇲

Even though Otto's Ski Shop closed it's storefront two years ago this coming June, it took until This past October to sell off the last of the Otto's inventory.
I traveled to the Caribbean and found a village on the small island of Dominica that i love and loved me.
i am sitting at PDX waiting for my flight back there now.
i have kept posting to encourage everyone to do something you love in nature. Keep moving. Rehab when necessary. Do not give up. Ask for help. Adjust your pace.
Hoping to be able to hike from the village of Soufriere at sea level to Galleon, a tiny village at the top of the mountain behind us. There is a winding uphill path though the jungle i am going to explore. Luckily my best friend there has a machete. May you all be well. Go out and play with your friends. Get dirty doing it.

Adjusting to the elevation in Sun Valley took lots of red blood cells. The snow was beautiful. My trip mates on the ONC jaunt loved the high altitude vibes.
