Hard companions are real.
And they can feel all-consuming.

When you’re with someone 24/7 who makes the work harder, it can affect everything - your focus, your spirit, even your prayers. If you’ve been there, you’re not weak. You’re human.

This week, we’re talking about shifting our hearts from frustration to faith - turning to God instead of staying stuck in discouragement. When hard moments come, we can choose trust, gratitude, and growth.

Our printable this week is filled with words and messages to help you lean on Christ in difficult seasons - because those tools will bless you long after your mission.

You’re not alone. And God is closer than you think. 💛

Returning from a mission is weird. And a great big adjustment.

Even those who are determined to not make it weird, who may not show it on the outside very possibly are freaking out on the inside.

So, how do we support our returned missionaries? How do we help acclimate their new selves into their old lives?

How about some tips.

Alone or Not Alone. Does your missionary still need a companion? Or are they ready to be by themselves? You might give some options or opportunities for them to choose if they want to do certain things alone or with somebody.

Maybe something like this:

*Hey, I need some things from the store. Do you want to ride along with me or would you rather go by yourself or stay home?

*I am taking your younger siblings to xx - would you like to come with us?

Stuff like that just might be helpful. What ideas do you have?

When my oldest son left on his mission I wondered how I could properly support him, not having served a mission myself. I felt inadequate.

Because I hadn’t experienced full-time missionary service, I didn’t know what emotions he might be feeling, or the pressure that he was under, or the joys that he was experiencing.

It weighed on me. When I finally prayed about it, I received a quick answer. The answer was to be spiritually minded and open to receiving inspiration.

So I committed to daily prayer and daily scripture reading. Listening to conference talks came to be a great source of strength and joy and often held spiritual truths and enlightening ideas that invited me to feel closer to the Spirit and allowed me to share with my missionary.

So if you’re feeling any inadequacies, take it to the Lord. He will help you.

The phone calls from your missionary are a treasure! But what do you do when you’ve run out of things to ask about, or you get in a rut and talk about the same things every week? That time is so precious, that we wanted to give you a whole bunch of ideas of what you can talk about. We want to give you tools to be able to better connect with and support your missionary.
