Good Morning to our most wonderful customers and friends,
So this is our last weekend. Can you believe it? I can't. Although I've only been the manager for 2 of our 30 years, this place has been a second home and refuge for me (and much of our staff as well - doubtless some of you too). I'm having a hard time writing this letter to you all so forgive me if I sound a bit choppy - I have so many things I want to say but no words to describe it.
It's been such a joy to have the opportunity to have met you all. Cameron, I hope you keep reading any book you can find (because you've read everything we have); Karen and Barb, you both were such joys to see so consistently each week; Aimee - I don't think I need to say anything here, you know how we feel about you; Richard, even though I pretend you drive me crazy, I'm so glad I got to know you and my dog Jasper - you both lit up my afternoons; to our book club who made those 12-hour days so worth it; and our loyal schools who continued to support us although Amazon was probably cheaper; and last but not in the least, least, Howard - who we all loved so dearly and who none of us will ever forget. And to you - all of you who have read each of our emails (or maybe just a few, or just this one even) because we couldn't have been here this long without you. You've been just a joy to know.
And thank you all who supported Heather and I in our attempt to open a new store. It was so heartwarming to know we would have had so much support. Hopefully we will see you at our bookstore in the future!
Now, since I probably shouldn't keep crying here at the front desk while writing this, I'm gong to say my final goodbye.
So goodbye and thank you.
